The Poetry
Tuesday held on April 5 was a delightful affair for the participants. From
young to old, budding to established poets presented their delicate verses to
an equally select audience. dna was a media partner to the event.
On April 5,
Cafe Verve at Talaopali came alive in the presence of poets who had gathered
from across, Thane, Mumbai and Pune. The programme, which started at 8pm, saw
over 70 poets performing.
The subject
was 'Escape from Heaven' where people spoke about what heaven meant to them and
how escaping from their felt. The evening started with poet Yashwant Didwagh
reciting a Marathi poem where a man and god contemplates about what is heaven.
Didwagh has been associated with Poetry Tuesdays since one-and-a-half years and
has also been featured on Radio City.
Well-known
Hindi poet Jayesh Ramaiya was also present. He recited Maen Rooh Se Baatein
Karta Hoon (I converse with my soul). The highlight was featured poet Ramya
Pandyan from Mumbai who is an established blogger and is famous for her
performances in poetry meets there. Accompanied by an acoustic guitar, she
recited four poems on topics of feminism and love.
"From
now on, we will have a featured poet at our monthly meets," says Anish
Vyavhare, who along with friend Anand Adsule, has started this meet in June
2011.
Poetry
Tuesdays was started by Maxmeet Socials a property owned by Vyavhare and
Narsule and will complete five years this June. "The aim was to give
like-minded Thanekars a chance to come together and share their poems,"
says Vyavhare who also teaches BMM students at Kelkar college.
This
monthly event is loved by budding poets in Thane and central suburbs region who
look forward to recite poems every month. "I am glad that such a meet is
happening in Thane. Otherwise we have to go to Bandra or Khar for poetry
meets," says Khanjan Purohit from Thane.
